The abdominal binder is appropriate for treatment of abdominal diastasis (abdominal separation) when it is larger than 5cm or resulting in back pain. We often recommend the binder for those with smaller abdominal diastasis - separation if they have other young children which they will be lifting. This will help protect the area and enable healing.
